Musician: Rolyn Hu
Rolyn Hu is a musician, vocalist, mover, community organizer and somatic practitioner with roots in Taiwan, Maryland and Hawaii. She is currently based out of Lenapehoking land of Lenape / NYC
She has released two EPs on Chicago label Locust w/ her band True Primes and plays trumpet on 75 Dollar Bill Wood Metal album. She has played live w/ Daniel Carter (Sun Ra), Jozef Van Wissem, Robbie Lee and performed at John Zorn’s The Stone, Issue Project Room, Zebulon, GBE Gallery, Barbes etc.
As a dedicated mover Rolyn is passionate about creative interplay w/ other movers and existing in the liminal space between mover and musician, body as primal sound, how to catch and receive the waveform to natural decay and organic reemergence thru deep listening and spatial acoustics.
Her music and movement is fluid while in ongoing navigation and inquiry of public space, chronic illness, dynamic disability, embodied social justice, collective collaboration in New culture and "welcome to feeling more". Authentic movement and CI community continues to resource, nourish and challenge her connection to self and other.
